Mind Stretching... from my mind to yours

Good Day Yogis,

I hope this post finds you all enjoying some warming weather- jeepers it has been pretty chilly this last week plus but warmer days are coming- YAY!

Topic today is Mind Stretching- sparked by the DailyOm meditation I shared with classes yesterday. Why am I posting about this, because it seems as if that is our constant state right now. With all of the changes that we are constantly faced with I want to ask you how are you doing? Do you you feel as if your mind is at its max capacity of stretching or do you feel like your mind is constantly evolving and flowing with creativity, spontaneity and adventure? Honestly some days I feel like I have surpassed my mind stretching capacity and other days I feel like bring it on- I can handle more! Did you know that if you don’t allow your mind to stretch and expand with all the changes that are going on you actually are limiting your potential and opportunities. We know this to be true because I am sure I am not the only one out there who has strayed away from change only to find that the more I resisted it the stronger it pushed me to move out of my comfort zone. So I have now learned to not resist but to pivot :) Pivot for me means shifting to a certain degree - a combination of staying where it is cozy most of the time but then pivoting to grow and expand the rest of the time. Like many of us this is what life has been like for about a year or so now. So once again I am pivoting to stretch my mind and expand outside of my comfort zone so I can grow even more. That being said I have taken a long term sub position within the WRPS at the THINK Academy where 2 of my 3 kids currently attend (this is the pivot part and the mind stretching) but I will still currently be teaching yoga classes online, hopefully soon in person (summer for sure) and on demand as well (this is a combination of comfort and pivot). Morning classes will be changing times from now until the end of the school year with the exception of some weekend classes, breaks and off days of school- the time change will be 8:15am instead of 9:30am. This is the part of the post where your mind either is stretching or contracting… I hope that it is stretching! On some Saturdays when I can teach I will be offering classes at our regular time- 930am but Mon-Fri classes will all start at 8:15am moving forward. I would say that in my 10+ years of teaching there has always been changes that have occurred for my students, myself and the practice; from how many classes I taught to where I taught to what I taught to when I was coming back from having babies, etc… and through it all I have learned to trust that whatever changes come my way I will be able to handle them as long as I have flexibility. “Flexibility is the capacity to bend without breaking, as well as the continual willingness to change in order to accommodate new circumstances.” And this job is considered a new circumstance and I hope that we will all be able to bend into this like we have so many other times when a change came our way. When we are flexible, we allow for situations we could not have planned, and so the world continues to surprise and delight us.

I am excited about this new opportunity and THANK YOU ALL for pivoting with me in these times of change once again!!

Looking forward to stretching mind and body with you live, in person and on demand. When you stretch your mind your possibilities are endless! Stay tuned for more information about on demand classes coming to you soon!

Namaste Yogis,
